Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro PROFILE

Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, born 5 February 1985, commonly known as Cristiano Ronaldo, is a Portuguese footballer who plays as a winger or a forward for Spanish La Liga club Real Madrid and serves as captain of the Portuguese national team. Ronaldo is the most expensive player in football history after moving from Manchester United to Real Madrid in a transfer deal worth £80 million (€94m, US$132m). In addition, his contract with Real Madrid, in which he is to be paid £11 million per year over the following six years, makes him the highest-paid football player in the world. Ronaldo holds the distinction of being the first player to win the FIFA Puskás Award, an honour handed by FIFA to the best goal of the year. He scored that goal from 40 yards out, against Porto in a UEFA Champions League quarter-final match, while still playing for Manchester United.

Ronaldo began his career as a youth player for Andorinha, where he played for two years, then moved to Nacional. In 1997, he made a move to Portuguese giants Sporting CP. Ronaldo's precocious talent caught the attention of Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson and he signed the 18-year-old for £12.24 million in 2003. The following season, Ronaldo won his first club honour, the FA Cup, and reached the Euro 2004 final with Portugal, in which tournament he scored his first international goal.

In 2008, Ronaldo won the Champions League with United, and was named player of the tournament. He was named the FIFPro World Player of the Year and the FIFA World Player of the Year, in addition to becoming Manchester United's first Ballon d'Or winner in 40 years.Three-time Ballon d'Or winner Johan Cruyff said in an interview on 2 April 2008, "Ronaldo is better than George Best and Denis Law, who were two brilliant and great players in the history of United."

Early life

Ronaldo was born on 5 February 1985 in Santo António, a neighbourhood of Funchal, Madeira, the youngest child of Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro, a cook, and José Dinis Aveiro, a municipal gardener. His second given name, "Ronaldo", was chosen after then-U.S. president Ronald Reagan, who was his father's favourite actor. He has one older brother, Hugo, and two older sisters, Elma and Liliana Cátia.
Personal life

Ronaldo's father, José Dinis Aveiro, died of an alcoholism-related liver condition in September 2005 at age 52 when Ronaldo was 20. Ronaldo's mother and Manchester United coach have stated that he does not drink alcohol as a result, and he has received libel damages over a Daily Mirror article that reported him drinking heavily in a nightclub while recovering from an injury in July 2008.

Ronaldo's autobiography, titled Moments, was published in December 2007.Along with one of his sisters, Ronaldo opened a fashion boutique under the name "CR7" (his initials and shirt number). There are currently two CR7 store locations, both of which are in Portugal; one in Lisbon and the other in Madeira.

On 9 June 2010, Madame Tussauds London unveiled Ronaldo's waxwork as part of the build-up to the World Cup. Ronaldo joins fellow footballers Steven Gerrard, Pelé and David Beckham at the event's venue.

Ronaldo announced that he had become a father on 3 July 2010. His official Facebook and Twitter pages reference the birth of his son and request privacy. The child, named Cristiano Ronaldo Junior, who was born to an anonymous mother, is in full custody of Ronaldo and under the care of his mother and sisters.

On August 2010, Ronaldo hit 10 million fans on Facebook and in doing so made history by becoming the first non-US personality ever to achieve that kind of success on the social networking site.

Since the start of 2010 he has been dating Russian model Irina Shayk.

SERGIO CANALES PROFILE

Sergio Canales Madrazo born 16 February 1991 in Santander, Cantabria is a Spanish footballer who plays for Real Madrid, as an attacking midfielder. A product of hometown Racing de Santander's youth ranks, Canales was bought by Deportivo de La Coruña – 50% of the player's rights – in 2006, as part of the deal which saw Pedro Munitis return to Cantabria. Dudu Aouate and Antonio Tomás were also involved, in the opposite direction.

On 12 February 2010, Real Madrid announced, ‘’Real Madrid and Real Racing Club Santander have reached a deal for the transfer of player Sergio Canales Madrazo. The contract will take effect as of 1 July 2010 and will keep Canales at Real Madrid for the next six seasons‘’.

The fee was believed to be €4.5 million plus incentives. On 4 August 2010, Canales made his debut for Real Madrid, scoring a goal in a 3–2 friendly win against Club América. His league debut came on 29 August, in a 0–0 draw against RCD Mallorca. Real Madrid legend Gento wished Canales all the best of luck and wished that "Canales wins many titles with Real Madrid just as I did."

Sergio Canales certainly did not leave Real Madrid and will play on next season under coach Jose Mourinho, the club's official statement on their website. Canales actually been brought in Los Merengues last season from Racing Santander. A few moments ago had proclaimed he would be loaned to Racing. But, the issue was not proven by this latest development. Canales plans to lend because he will have difficulty getting a place in the squad for Madrid's core since a very young age and many star players are scattered at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Predictions for the second half..

The first half of the season has come and gone and everything is pretty much what I expected it to be. You have the Yankees and Red Sox battling for the AL East title, and the Phillies trying to fight off the Atlanta Braves in the NL East. You also have the Texas Rangers neck to neck with the Anaheim Angels in the AL West with the Cardinals and the Brewers battling for the NL Central. Then you have the surprise Cinderella teams in it trying to make to the postseason. Starting with the Pirates giving both the Cardinals and Brewers a run for their money. You also have the Arizona Diamondbacks just three games behind the world series champs San Francisco Giants in the NL West. Last you have the Cleveland Indians on top of the AL Central!! Who will hold their lead on top of their division? Who will be just contending for the wild card?? Unfortunately I don't have a crystal ball that will answers all those questions but here are my predictions for the rest of the 2011 MLB season.
who didn't see this coming?

AL EAST
Division winners: Boston Red Sox
Creepers: New York Yankees
Review: Who really didn't expect these two teams battling it out for their division championship? This was the hardest decision I had but I have to go with the Boston Red Sox. Not only is their starting pitching solid 1-4 with their 5th pitcher being the wild card, (John Lackey) their batting rotation is sick to say the least. Yes I understand that the Yankees have a pretty good hitting rotation, however their pitching is very questionable. Set aside CC and Mo Rivera their entire pitching lineup from starting to the bullpen is extremely questionable. Who knows what we'll going to get from Ivan Nova or AJ Burnett. What happened to Phil Hughes this season and who took over his body? You can't win without great pitching and unless the Yankees do something to solve that issue, a trade maybe, the Boston Red Sox will run away with this. Keep in mind, the Red Sox are still a game and a half ahead of the Yankees without Carl Crawford, Jon Lester, Clay Buchloz, and Jed Lowie!

AL Central
Division Winners: Detroit Tigers
Creepers: Chicago White Sox/Cleveland Indians
Review: Can someone please tell me what happened to Adam Dunn and where I can find his remains? Seriously! What happened to the, averaging over 30 home runs with over 100 RBI seasons?! How terrible can he possibly play? Batting just .160 with 9 home runs with 34 RBI, White Sox fans you may now light yourselves on fire. With that being said, I truly believe the White Sox will give the Detroit Tigers a hard time to wrap up this division. I just have this feeling that Adam Dunn will return into some shape or form of what he used to be and help the White Sox make a run in their division, however the Detroit Tigers just have it all. You have Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer leading their starting rotation with Jose Valverde(who hasn't blown a save yet this season) closing games for them. Then you look at their batting rotation starting with the always reliable Miguel Cabrera and his partner in crime Victor Martinez cleaning up. Then you face Johnny Peralta with Alex Avila sitting behind the plate. You can't forget about their outfield lead by Magglio Ordonez with Austin Jackson and Brennan Boesch. They just need to pick up one more pitcher to run away with the division, but I still think they will take the division by a very slim lead over the Indians. Lets not forget about the Indians fans out there. The Cleveland Indians are the feel good story throughout baseball. You have Grady Sizemore recovering from his injuries with Asdrubal Cabrera playing the best baseball throughout his entire career!! However this lineup is just too young and too inexperienced to make it. This is why I have them not making the postseason even if they deserve it. The Detroit Tigers are just too solid from top to bottom and I just can't see a young team like the Cleveland Indians knocking them out. Sorry Cleveland fans, you still have Kyrie Irving to look forward to whenever the NBA season starts again.
All smiles for Mr. 27 Mill

AL West
Division winners: Texas Rangers
Creepers: Anaheim Angels
Review: Whats there not to love about the Texas Rangers? You have Josh Hamilton, Nelson Cruz, Ian Kinsler, Adrian Beltre, Elvis Andrus, Michael Young, and Mike Napoli in your batting rotation, however their starting pitching does need some help. Lead by CJ Wilson, Alexi Ogando and Colby Lewis they need one more starting pitcher to run away with the division. I just think with their current batting rotation and their OK pitching lineup they should be able to run away from the Anaheim Angels. My good friend Minh, huge Angels fan, told me earlier this week that he truly believes the Angels will run away with the division title and represent the AL West in the playoffs, I just don't see it happening man! I love their starting pitcher lineup lead by Jered Weaver with Dan Haren and Ervin Santana. Their closer Jordan Walden is having a insane year with 20 saves in the season already throwing 100 mph. However their batting rotation is just not good enough to take this division over. The Angels bullpen is also extremely questionable and if the Angels don't make a trade to improve their offense or the bullpen, the Rangers will run away with this. I'm still in disbelief that the Angels traded for Vernon Wells! The guy is being paid more than Howie Kendrick, Torii Hunter, and Alberto Callaspo put together! All three of them are playing better than Vernon Wells! Its understandable that you desperately need power in your lineup but to spend 27 million dollars on Vernon Wells per season is kinda nuts. This division is going to be the close, however the Texas Rangers are too deep and are too well coached to lose the division.

NL East
Division Winners: Phillies
Creepers: Braves
your freakin kiddin me right?
Review: Did we really expect anything different from the Phillies? They have the best starting pitching rotation in all of baseball! If you could say Cliff Lee is your second best pitcher in your rotation with Cole Hamels or Roy Oswalt as your third and fourth pitcher, its going to be real hard to argue that. Don't forget about the Doc, Mr Roy Halladay, baseball's perfect pitcher and the number one pitcher in all of baseball! Their offense has been struggling throughout the season, however I truly believe they will get it going and run away from the Atlanta Braves. Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins, and Placido Polanco in your infield with Shane Victorino, Raul Ibanez, and Dominic Brown in your outfield. Life as a Phillies fan must be great right about now. The heavily favorite before the season even started is playing just like they should be. With the best record of baseball its going to be real hard for the Braves or the Mets to catch them.

NL Central
Division Winner: St Louis Cardinals
Creepers: Brewers/Pirates
Review: This is going to be the division with the most fun and excitement to watch. One game is separating the Cardinals, Brewers, and Pirates! However I just think that the St Louis Cardinals are a more solid, experienced team and they will win their division. One man can carry that team to the promise land, Mr Albert Pujols. Even though he looks very mortal this season, with all the contract issues, he is still the Machine and if he could learn to play pass the problems, he could lead the team back to postseason! The Brewers will create problems for the Cardinals, now that they acquired K-Rod to be their setup guy and share the closing role with John Axford. They also have their own big three with Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun, and Rickie Weeks, it was hard to not choose them. I just think with experience and reliability from the St Louis Cardinals will play a huge role with the division race and Pujols will take them to the postseason. I'm not going to forget about the Pirate fans out there. Its been a amazing year, from one of the worst teams in all of baseball, to the team you are today, my heart goes out to the Pirates organization and hope that they will make it and somehow become the Cinderella team. However if your stuck in a division with one team being lead by Prince Fielder, and the other with Albert Pujols, its hard to choose when you have only two good hitters in your rotation, Andrew McCutchen (big fan) and Neil Walker. Great year overall for all Pirate fans, however your lack in starting pitching and offense will not get you past the Brewers or the Cardinals.

NL West
Division winners: San Francisco Giants
Creepers: Arizona Diamondbacks
Review: It was really hard for me to choose the San Francisco Giants for two reasons. One: I hate the Giants, GO DODGERS! Two: the Diamondbacks finally got things together and have a great pitching core with Ian Kennedy, Daniel Hudson, and Joe Saunders and batting rotation lead by Miguel Montero, Justin Upton, Chris Young, Kelly Johnson and Stephen Drew. However the champs have just been rolling with their excellent starting pitching lead by Big Time Timmy Lincecum, Matt Cain, Madison Bumgardner, Barry Zito, and closer Brian Wilson. Their hitting is extremely questionable, however, I believe this pitching rotation is 2nd to the Philadelphia Phillies and with that being said, the Giants will win the West and defend their championship in the playoffs.

AL WILD CARD
Winner: New York Yankees
Creeper: Anaheim Angels/Chicago White Sox
Derek Jeter's 3000 hit, guess where it went?
Review: Did you really expect anyone else in here? If Yankees don't get the AL East title, you have to expect that they will win the Wild Card and make it to the postseason regardless. Congrats to Mr Derek Jeter for hitting his 3000 hit!

NL WILD CARD
Winner: Atlanta Braves
Creeper: Brewers
Jair Jurrjens
Review: I love this team with Tommy Hanson, Tim Hudson, Craig Kimbrel, and Derek Lowe leading their pitching core. How can we forget about the Cy Young candidate Jair Jurrjens. What a amazing year Jurrjens has been having. Started the year on the DL and ended up with the most wins in all of the NL at the All Star break and with the lowest ERA. Its very unfortunate that the Phillies are in the same division, but they will still grab the NL wild card and give the Phillies a scare once they run into them in the postseason.

Dodger Blues...

Lets rewind real quick. Lets turn back the time to May 18th 2011 when the Dodgers played the Giants.. their biggest rivals. Now every time I step foot into the stadium when the Dodgers play the Giants, the arena is packed, there's hardly any room to move, so when my good friend Minh drove me to the game I anticipated the arena to be filled up. The worst image I could of seen as a loyal Dodger fan, the arena was barely half filled up. There are hardly any Dodger fans. I saw our ace Clayton Kershaw pitch against Giants pitcher Matt Cain. Not only did Kershaw give up four earned runs, but when we made a nice comeback against one of the top tier closers in the league, Mr. "Fear the Beard" Brian Wilson in the 9th inning we ended up losing when our then closer Lance Cormier gave up three earned runs. I know what your thinking, just another baseball game, isn't there over 100 other games? The thing that disturbed me the most out of this game was the fans there. . "Frank McCourt is totally screwing us over" "Dodger fans don't deserve this" You know what! I totally agree. Its time for Frank McCourt to let go. However we are at a Dodger game and we'll suppose to be talking about who the heck is Lance Cormier? What's going on with the Dodgers? Wheres Johnathan Broxton, Hong-Chih Kuo, and Vincent Padilla? How did we blow this game against the Giants?! Instead we'll talking about Mr McCourt.

Bud Selig and Frank McCourt aren't the closest of friends
Sad thing about this mess is that he won't let go. Not without a fight at least. What your probably thinking is, when is this finally going to end? When are we going to be contenders again? What is going to happen to Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp once they become free agents? Are we going to resign them or just let them leave since we don't have any money to keep them? This is a HUGE mess and trust me when I say it, it's only going to get worse. You think we hit rock bottom with the Giants on top of the NL West standings and us stuck 12 games behind, think again! The best thing Frank McCourt could do is to sell the Dodgers, get whatever he could get and just let go. If you look at the numbers and the situation at hand, you have to believe that he doesn't have much of a choice but realize that its over. Without the Fox deal, which MLB has denied already, he doesn't have the money to keep the Dodgers afloat. Now what are you thinking? If Frank McCourt does not have the money to pay the Dodgers payroll, whats going to happen to the Dodgers? Basically MLB will make the payroll for him, which will allow MLB to take over the Dodgers baseball team and force Mr. McCourt to sell the team. Now are you thinking this is the best scenario? Wait just a second!! Who owns the parking lot in Dodger Stadium? Mr Frank McCourt. Who owns the property the Dodger Stadium is built on? Mr McCourt. Basically imagine this, your worth multi billion dollars and you love sports and have money to spend ::cough:: Mark Cuban ::cough::. Would you want to buy a team like the LA Dodgers and deal with the property owned by the bitter previous owner? Why deal with that, shoot if I'm worth billions, I don't have to deal with this. That's basically what baseball has to deal with. Unless Frank McCourt gives up and finally lets the Dodgers go, I don't see this team going anywhere and being owned by anyone else.

Don't leave us..
What does this mean to us Dodger fans? This basically means that help isn't coming. This basically means that we won't be in the trade market to improve our team. This means that when Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier are both eligible to be free agents, I doubt the Dodgers will have any money to keep them. What about the Prince Fielder and Albert Pujols sweepstakes this winter? Seriously? The Dodgers are struggling, and there isn't help on its way. When we look back at everything the McCourts have done for us, such as bring Manny Ramirez, Nomar Garciaparra, Jeff Kent, and Joe Torre to us, its understandable that he really did care about the Dodgers and wanted to help us win. The problem is that he has to realize now that his time with the Dodgers are over and its time to let us go. Unless he wants to join Donald Sterling and become one of the most hated owners in Los Angeles, just sell us. You made your money, and the Dodgers are worth a lot more than what you paid for it (430 million in 2004). When Frank McCourt realizes this and lets us go that's when the Dodgers fans could finally breath a sigh of relief and anticipate the next owners and see how he/she helps us, but until then, Frank McCourt will keep fighting and the Dodgers blues will just keep on rolling. Dodger fans deserve more than this..

Will the real king please stand up?

Today is National LeBron James Day. Everyone gets to leave work 12 minutes early! Why didn't LeBron James go to college? He didn't want to show up for finals. What is the difference between Lebron James and a dollar? A dollar gives you 4 quarters. Let the Lebron haters please stand up and take in what just transpired in this years NBA finals. Let the jokes rain on in!! This years NBA finals was amazing! Dirk Nowitzki turned himself into one of the top 20 players in NBA history while turning Lebron James from one of the best players in the 2011 NBA playoffs to a "choke artist". Someone who couldn't come through when his number was called. Seriously, if you watched this years NBA finals you could tell by the guys body language he just wasn't into it when the team needed him the most! He was clearly the "Scottie Pippen" in that situation. No disrespect towards Scottie but he was Jordan's sidekick. He kept passing the ball at times when he could of drove in and tried to make something happen. Dwyane Wade started screaming at him in the middle of game 3 pleading for his help. That he couldn't do it alone and told him he was the most talented player in the world!! Now can we stop with these comparisons with MJ and Lebron James?! He won't get there!! Not this way! Not by becoming the sidekick to Dwyane Wade. Michael Jordan would of never wanted to team up with Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, or Isiah Thomas. They were all friends and it would of been cool to play with each other just like the Dream Team, but in the end he wanted to beat them, he wanted to test how high the ceiling is on his game and therefore became the best player in NBA history. MJ had this killer instinct in him that wouldn't of allowed his team to let go of a 15 point lead halfway through the 4th quarter. He would of kept sticking that dagger in the opponents heart until they had nothing left. Look at the stats!! In the last 5 minutes when the score is within 5 Dirk scored 26 points, while the self proclaimed "King James" ZERO POINTS throughout the whole NBA finals! The only player close to that killer instinct status was Kobe Bryant and until Lebron start utilizing his potential and get that killer instinct, get a go to move that defenders can't guard (post up fade away that Kobe and Jordan mastered) the Miami Heat will not win a championship on its own, not with only Dwyane Wade.

Now, will people remember this as the finals where the Dallas Mavericks won and finally got redemption for the 2006 NBA playoffs or will people remember this as the series where the Miami Heat lost it? I can't believe this was even a discussion! This series was all about Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, and Dirk Nowitzki finally getting what they deserved, a NBA championship! For the past five years, Dirks been receiving the most punishment for the 2006 collapse. Up 2-0 in the finals against Dwyane Wade's Miami Heat and couldn't shut the door on them (very controversial series). Well guess what? He answered the critics who didn't believe that he had what it took to be a champion. He proved to fans and the media that he isn't "soft" and he wasn't clutch then the team actually needed him. He played through it all! Torn tendon on the left index finger, whatever! Fever up to around 101 degrees, done! Down double digits in the fourth quarter with everyone giving up, he was the one that carried them back into the game. Hes the one screaming at Jason Terry when he attempted to make a ugly shot.

I don't want to be that guy that says I told you so, but I told you so!! Who said Dallas in six?! (Please check the previous post) The Dallas Mavericks has never been better! They won this NBA championship without their second best scorer, Caron Butler, and pretty much played the whole NBA finals without their backup center Brandon Haywood. They were the underdogs throughout the whole NBA playoffs! Ran into the Portland Trailblazers people wrote them off. Then the two time NBA champs the LA Lakers people assumed they would choke under the pressure. Next the OKC Thunder team, the kids in the NBA playoffs, still the underdogs! Lastly the Miami Heat lead by Dwyane Wade with Lebron James and Chris Bosh. Underdogs throughout the whole series. With Dallas leading Miami by two (53-51) at halftime of Game 6, Vegas favored Miami by 4½ points in the second half. Even going into next season, the Miami Heat are still the favorites to win the championship. The Lakers, Bulls, Heat, and Thunder are considered the heavier favorites over the NBA champs! Now I'm not going to predict they will repeat as champs but with the addition of Caron Butler throughout a whole season who knows what they could do! Don't expect Dirk to let down next year. Don't think its just a fluke and that they will be content with one championship. I'm sure Mark Cuban won't let it happen earlier! They are still going to be contenders next year.

And Dirk Nowitzki... Simply amazing. You watch this guy play you would think some of the shots he makes is impossible. How do you guard someone like this? Off one foot fade away shoot, count it! This NBA championship means so much to his legacy. He'll be the first player to say that he doesn't care about his legacy, but in the end of the day you don't want to be on that "list". The list of NBA greats that couldn't win a championship, Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller, John Stockton, Allen Iverson, and one of Dirks best buddies Steve Nash. The Dirk love fest will go on throughout the summer! Only 10 players in NBA history has been a 10 time NBA all star, league MVP and finals MVP, Bill Russell, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kareem, Julius Erving, Oscar Robertson, Moses Malone, Wilt, Kobe Bryant and now the 11th player in NBA history to do it.. Dirk Nowitizki. Will he start to move in to one of the top 10 players in NBA history? Who knows but I could guarantee you one thing, Dirk will not stop, and whenever he decides to retire, go home to Germany while listen to David Hasselhoff, he will ride off in the sunset the greatest player to have ever played for the Dallas Mavericks, and the best European player the NBA has ever seen.

UEFA president Michel Platini (C) congratulates Barcelona's Spanish coach Josep Guardiola (R) at the end of the UEFA Champions League final football match FC Barcelona vs. Manchester United, on May 28, 2011 at Wembley stadium in London. Barcelona won 3 to 1.
